Psychologists

Gary L. Coats, Ph.D.

Hello, I am Dr. Gary. I have been a practicing licensed psychologist for 25 years. During that time I have worked with many different populations and have developed several areas of specialization.

My undergraduate education was completed in 1974 at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. My graduate training in clinical psychology (specialty area: Substance Abuse) was completed at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE, 1982. Internship training was at the Langley Porter Neuropsychiatric Institute, a part of the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco. In 1992, I completed a one year post-doctoral training program at the Center for Cognitive Therapy, under the direction of Aaron Beck, MD, in Philadelphia, PA.

First and foremost, I am a cognitive psychologist so therapy is very focused and goal driven. Some of my specialty areas include: depression; anxiety; ADHD (all ages); substance abuse evaluation and treatment; & systematic relaxation training. You can learn more about these disorders by clicking on the corresponding links.

While I have always worked with adult clients with various problems, I have also had extensive experience working with the senior population. Additionally, I have worked extensively with adolescents. Their presenting problems frequently were school related (lack of motivation, underachievement), underlying issues involved a range of problem areas and frequently involved therapy with all family members.

Rusty Gold

Hi, I'm Rusty Gold, but you can call me Rusty. I feel like I am the luckiest dog in the world. I get to be with my 'master' almost every day, all day long. Of course, 'he' calls it going to work, but I call it 'going for an adventure'. Think about it ... everyday I get to see lots of kids and lots of adults. Sometimes they're sad ... or mad ... or glad. But I love them just the same ... and you know what ... sometimes ... it seems like they feel a little better just because of me. I know I'm not the only reason, but it sure feels nice to think even "I" can help some one when their not feeling so great. Anyway, I'm a very loving & faithful dog, and I will try to give you comfort and support whenever I can.
